Have you got what it takes to represent the U's at Futsal?
There are now only a limited number of places left on the Cambridge United Futsal Programme trial for young people aged between 16-18 year old, taking place this Saturday at the Cambridge Regional College hosted by Luke Chadwick.
The trial, which begins at 11am, offers local youngsters the opportunity to showcase their futsal skills, with the chance of progressing onto the club’s Futsal Education Programme later this year.
Set to be launched for the first time in September the scholarship programme will give participants the chance to pursue a Futsal and Education scholarship through the football club, allowing them to study a Level 3 BTEC as well as playing Futsal every day.
The full-time two year course will also include units in sports nutrition, sports injuries, anatomy and physiology, sports development, sports as a business and sports psychology.
The scholarship will offer a wide variety of options to participants upon completion, including university and foundation degrees, further scholarships in America, personal training programmes and even the possibility of becoming a full-time futsal player competing in the FA Futsal National League.
In order to be in with a chance of making the programme, applicants must attend Saturday’s trial in which Luke Chadwick will be alongside a number of Cambridge United’s Academy coaches, to give those in attendance a taste of one of the fastest growing indoor sports in the world.
Futsal is a fast paced five-a-side game with up to nine substitutes, played on flat indoor pitch with hockey sized goals and a smaller ball with reduced bounce. So do you think you have what it takes to represent the U’s in The Football League Trust Futsal League.
Applicants must be aged between 16-18 years old and have at least 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at C or above, including maths and English.
