LUTON 3-2 CAMBRIDGE

United defeated at Kenilworth Road

A spirited second-half performance was not enough to prevent the U's slipping to their first defeat of 2015.

The U's had found themselves 3-0 down at half-time thanks to goals from Drury, Wilkinson and Smith.

Johnny Hunt pulled one back for the U's on 67, before Robbie Simpson slid in United's second on 86.  The U's however, couldn't find an equaliser.

The opening stages of the game saw Jake Howells come close for the Hatters, before Sullay Kaikai, Tom Elliott and Ryan Donaldson all had decent chances to put the U's in front.

Luton then took the lead through Andy Drury on 19, before his cross was met by Wilkinson at the near post on 31 who headed past Dunn to make it 2-0.

Jonathan Smith made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time, his strike from 20 yards nestled in the bottom corner.

HT: Luton 3-0 U's

The U's started the second half brightly, Donaldson and McGeehan coming close, before Tyler tipped an Elliott header over the bar.

After a neat build up from United, Johnny Hunt reduced the deficit on 67, his first-time strike flew into the top corner.

United continued to dominate, McGeehan, Simpson and Taylor all having decent chances, before a huge hand-ball appeal from the U's was waved away.

Simpson made it 3-2 on 86, sliding the ball past Tyler after good work from Taylor and McGeehan.  Simpson's free-kick at the death ended up just over before McGeehan's strike ended up wide, leaving United tasting defeat for the first time in 2015.
