MONEY LOOKING FOR QUICK RESPONSE FROM U’S

U's Boss wants to move on quickly from Crawley loss

United Manager Richard Money says his side must respond quickly following a “humbling” 0-3 defeat to Crawley Town at the Abbey Stadium on Saturday.

The U’s were unable to chase down a one goal deficit at half time in the same we they had four days earlier against AFC Wimbledon, and succumbed to the Red Devils in uncomfortably hot conditions.

The United boss admits it was a game he is keen to get out of the side’s system as soon as possible, with a full week’s training a real benefit to preparations for this weekend’s away clash against Barnet.

Money said: “It is very simplistic to say we have to wrap that game up and move on very quickly but there is certainly an element of that.

“I didn’t envisage the players playing as poorly as they did and clearly they were feeling the effects of the intense programme, the travel then the weather being the way that it was.

“Our positional play and decision making at times was poor but when minds are tired then that happens and that clearly had an effect on Saturday.

“All those factors together made life extremely uncomfortable for us, but I’m not sure we were good enough in most areas anyway to be honest.”

He added: “We will talk about the game and the fact that when we were chasing the game we were unable to keep ourselves safe.

“The week without a game helps us, no doubt about it.

“It gives a chance not only to refresh those players who played a lot of minutes, but also get back on to the training pitch which we haven’t really been able to do since the season started two weeks ago.

“The Crawley match is a wakeup call as the result is very humbling, and now we have to respond in the right way and clearly let’s see if we can.”
