The thoughts of everybody at Cambridge United are with Chris Turner's family and freinds
CAMBRIDGE United are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former player and manager, Chris Turner, at the age of 64 following his long battle with illness.
Chris played for the U's during the 1979-80 season before heading to play in America. He returned to England shortly after and joined Swindon Town before returning to the Abbey where he became a regular between 1980 and 1983.
Chris finished his playing career at Southend United before heading back to Cambridge to manage the club during the 1985/86 season. Chris spent five years in charge, helping re-build the team before John Beck took charge in 1990.
In 2006, Chris returned to the U's as a member of the coaching staff, but was soon after diagnosed with dementia.
Chris also had a successful playing and management career at Peterborough United, making over 300 appearances for the Posh and leading the club to back-to-back promotions as manager in the early 90's.
The thoughts and prayers of everybody at Cambridge United Football Club are with Chris' family and friends at this sad time.
