U's defeated at Whaddon Road
CAMBRIDGE United went down 3-1 at the hands of Cheltenham Town this evening.
United began the game with the same outfield ten, the only change being Chris Dunn replacing Will Norris in goal after returning from his groin injury.
The U's got off to the worst possible start, a looped ball over the top found Shaun Harrad and he made no mistake firing past Dunn to put the Robins ahead on two minutes.
United then grew into the game, with Harrison Dunk in the thick of the action, coming close twice on 15 and 17 minutes. Ryan Donaldson saw his free-kick sail over the bar on 18 before Ryan Bird leveled matters on 33. Bird got on the end of Dominic Ball's whipped cross and Trevor Carson couldn't keep it out.

The hosts were quickest out of the traps for the second period, Danny Haynes and Shaun Harrad proving difficult for the U's back-line to deal with. United began to impose themselves on the game before Haynes restored the Robins' lead on 57. Matt Sparrow's corner fell to Haynes 20 yards out and he made no mistake in rifling past Dunn.
The introduction of Jordan Slew and Sullay Kaikai saw United have a decent spell of pressure, but the U's couldn't make it count. Matt Sparrow then sealed the points for Cheltenham on 75, his deflected strike flew past Chris Dunn into the roof of the net.
United managed to carve out a couple of half-chances late on, but couldn't find a way back into the game.
