Steve Smith reviews the weekend's action in League Two

IT has been another great weekend of action in League 2. With twelve matches played and twenty-eight goals scored, the best viewing was to be found at Victoria Road where 2,049 witnessed Dagenham & Redbridge's 3-2 defeat at the hands of Cambridge United for the U's first away win of the season.

Luke Howell give Daggers the lead, but goals from Ryan Donaldson and Michael Nelson put the visitors in front.  Ryan Bird made the win safe when he turned in Liam Hurst’s delivery before George Porter scored with eight minutes remaining to make it a nervy finish for the visitors.

Burton remain unbeaten, stretching their lead at the top by three points after ending York City’s twenty-three match unbeaten run with a 2-0 win at the Pirelli Stadium. The Brewers took the lead through Lucas Akins' volley before John Mousihno made the points safe.

Managerless Carlisle fell to the foot of the football league after a 3-0 defeat to Bury at Brunton Park.  Danny Rose headed in a cross for his fifth goal of the season before Craig Jones and Ryan Lowe rounded off a comfortable victory.

Morecambe continued their excellent start of the season after a late goal give them a 2-1 victory against play-off chasing Plymouth Argyle. The in form Kevin Ellison give the hosts the lead  before Peter Hartley’s thumping header dragged the Green Army level. Jamie Devitt then popped up to score a late winner for the Shrimps, turning in Ellison’s wayward shot beyond Argyle stopper, Luke McCormack, with seven minutes to go.

Newport County held on despite a late surge from Northampton to win 3-2 at Rodney Parade, picking up their first home win of the season. Justin Edinburgh’s boys were two to the good at the break compliments to goals from Chris Zebroski and Darren Jones. After the break Lee Minshull added a third, but Northampton responded with goals from Lawson D'Ath and Marc Richards.

Exeter and Oxford United are still both winless after sharing the spoils at St James Park. The Grecians went in front when Graham Cummins scored an early penalty, but Oxford soon levelled as Callum O'Dowda swept home Bolton loanee Joe Riley's centre from close range.

Mark Cullen's early goal gave Luton their first home victory since returning to the Football League, at the expense of high-flying Cheltenham.

Wycombe came from one down to beat Mansfield 2-1, and make it four league games unbeaten. Matt Rhead had put the Stags in front, but a Paul Hayes penalty and a Peter Murphy header secured the three points for the hosts.

Stevenage secured a second win in eight games with victory a 1-0 over Shrewsbury thanks to Darius Charles deflected volley.

Accrington Stanley made light of James Beattie's resignation on Friday by beating AFC Wimbledon to claim their second successive win in with a 1-0 triumph, James Gray scoring the sole goal.

Second-half goals from Barry Corr and on-loan Tottenham striker, Shaq Coulthirst gave Southend their first win in six games in a 2-0 home victory against Portsmouth

Elsewhere there was no goals at Victoria Road as Hartlepool and Tranmere shared the points.
