U'S SECURE BLAIR

Matty Blair joins the U's on loan

CAMBRIDGE United have signed Matthew Blair on loan until January.

Blair, 25, joins the U's from Fleetwood Town after joining the Cod Army in May 2013.

Prior to joining Fleetwood, the wide midfielder spent the 2010/11 season with Conference side Kidderminster Harriers before joining York City in June 2011.

Blair was the Minstermen's top scorer during the 2011/12 season, scoring 20 times as York were promoted to League Two via the play-offs.  The 2012/13 season saw Matty score 7 times in 49 appearances for City, who finished 17th in League Two.

Commenting on the latest addition to the U’s squad, Jez George said: “With recent injuries, it was really important that we strengthened the squad with the deadline for the loan window soon approaching.  Matty is a player that we've known about for a long time.  We first tried to sign him in 2011 and we've monitored his progress ever since.  He has all the attributes that we look for in a wide player, as well as the character and attitude we demand in our players, and we look forward to him joining the club."
