CHADWICK SIGNS FOR THE U'S

Luke Chadwick signs for Cambridge United

LUKE Chadwick has signed a one-year deal with Cambridge United.

The midfielder joined the U's on loan in March, making 10 appearances and scoring twice.

Chadwick, 33, arrives after finishing his spell with MK Dons, which saw him make over 200 appearances for the Buckinghamshire club.

The Cambridge-born U's fan started his career at Manchester United and went on to play for West Ham United, Stoke City and Norwich City before joining the Dons in 2009.

Commenting on signing for United, Chadwick said: "I'm delighted to have signed for this great cub.  To be part of a Cambridge Untied squad that's back in the Football League is something really special and I can't wait for the season to start."

Director of Football, Jez George, said: "We are delighted to have now signed Luke on a permanent contract.  It has been refreshing that from the first moment we spoke last season, the discussion has only centred on his desire to play for Cambridge United rather than any financial considerations.  We see his long term future with us, initially as a player and eventually being mentored through his coaching qualifications and a role of some description in the club.  But that is for the long term.  In the short term, Luke will be an important member of Richard's squad as we look forward to meeting the challenge awaiting us in League Two".

The U's will host MK Dons in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday 29th July at 7:45pm, tickets for the fixture will be going on sale next week.
