U’s defender Tom Bonner was stretchered off the pitch during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Luton Town.
Tom was admitted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital on Saturday evening and underwent surgery on his right ankle on Sunday morning.
We are pleased to say that the surgery was successful and that Tom is now recovering at home.
At this point in time, the club are unable to give an accurate time scale for Tom’s recovery from the injury.
Tom has been overwhelmed by the messages of support and would like to thank everyone for their kind words.
The club would like to place on record, our thanks to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for their care of Tom on Saturday and Sunday.
U's Physiotherapist, Greg Reid, said: "Tom has sustained a significant injury, but we are relieved it wasn't as bad as initially feared. I would also like to add my personal thanks to everyone involved in Tom's care - initially at the ground & subsequently at Addenbrookes Hospital."
