United claim a point on the road
TOM Elliott's second goal in as many games was not enough for the U's to claim all three points at Halifax this afternoon.Elliott had put the U's one-up on 65 minutes, but The Shaymen's highly rated front-man, Lee Gregory, equalised on 75 minutes with a great turn and strike from six yards out.
The U's had the best of the first half, Matt Glennon in the Halifax goal pulling off some great stops to deny Ryan Donaldson, Tom Elliott, Matthew Barnes-Homer and Ashley Chambers.
Simon Ainge and Lee Gregory had the best chances for the hosts in the first period, but the teams went in for the break all square.
HT: Halifax 0-0 U's
The second half started with the home side on the front foot, however it was the U's who got their noses in front when Tom Elliott nodded home from a free kick after Ryan Donaldson had been fouled.
John Sullivan made a superb stop to deny Pearson, but shortly after Lee Gregory was on hand six yards out, to turn and fire the hosts level.
The U's pushed for a late winner, Ryan Donaldson came close at the death, but the match ended all square.
