Dartford 3-3 U's

U's earn a point at Princes Park

CAMBRIDGE United came away from Dartford with a point this afternoon.

The U's were 1-0 up after just two minutes, débutante Ryan Bird capitalising on a defensive error to slide home.

Minutes later, United then came close to making it 2-0, Tom Elliot finding the foot of the post with Alan Julian beaten.

On 16 minutes, the second goal came, and it was Bird again who scored for United.  He battled to keep the ball on the edge of the Dartford box, then fired over Julian, much to the delight of the travelling Amber Army.

Dartford were back in the game on 24 minutes, Ryan Donaldson penalised for a push in the box and Bradbrook fired home for the hosts.

In the last minute of the first-half Dartford were level.  A looping ball to the back post found Cornhill, whose header crept past Sullivan into the bottom corner;

The U's came out looking to get back in front, but no real chances were created for either side.  Josh Gillies came close with a wicked strike on 66 minutes and one minute later, his drilled ball across the box couldn't find a blue shirt.

On 69 minutes the hosts took the lead.  Danny Harris nicked the ball 25 yards out and sent a superb finish over John Sullivan and off the under side of the crossbar.

Within five minutes the U's could have been level.  Josh Gillies was upended in the box but Ashley Chambers' spot kick was saved well by Alan Julian.

The U's were level on 79 minutes, Luke Berry glancing home at the back post from a Josh Gillies free kick.

United could have taken all three points at the end, with the rain beating down, Josh Gillies' free kick on the edge of the box forced an excellent save from Alan Julian.
