Ashley Chambers joins the U's
CAMBRIDGE United have signed Ashley Chambers from York City until the end of the season with the option for a further 12 months.The wide midfielder and striker joins from the Minstermen having made over 100 appearances for the club since 2010. Chambers was the clubs top scorer in the 2012/13 season, scoring 10 goals in 42 appearances.
23-year-old Ashley joined Leicester City as a youngster, signing a professional contract in 2005. He became the Foxes' youngest ever first-team player making his debut at the age of 15.
Chambers had loan spells at Wycombe, Grimsby and York before joining York on a permanent deal in May 2011.
Director of Football, Jez George, stated: “We are delighted to have signed a player of Ashley’s pedigree and quality. We have worked really hard to make this happen once we knew that York City were willing to allow him to leave on a free transfer. He will be an exciting player for our fans to watch and a really good addition to our squad for the second half of the season and hopefully beyond.”
