U's Visit Children At Addenbrooke's

Richard Tait, Tom Bonner, Josh Coulson, Greg Taylor, Liam Hughes, Tom Champion, Luke Berry, Harrison Dunk, Adam Cunnington, Tom Elliott, Kevin Roberts and Ryan Donaldson all came along with gifts and goodie bags for the youngsters on the Children's Ward.

Giving out gifts and having photographs taken, U's midfielder, Tom Champion, said: "It's a very humbling experience coming to the hospital and seeing the people here. If we can give them some joy and put a smile on their face while we are here, that's great."

After signing autographs for children and their families, Liam Hughes said: "It's emotional when you come and see the kids. It gives you a real sense of perspective and and it makes you realise how lucky you are."

U's defender, Josh Coulson said: "I've been coming for a number of years now and it's always very emotional. But it's fantastic to be here. It's not just about putting smiles on the children's faces, but helping the parents too, because it's such a difficult time for all the children and their families, it's especially tough in the run up to Christmas."

U's club chaplain, Rev Stuart Wood, who helps organise the annual event said: “It is always a privilege for Cambridge United to visit the Children’s Wards at Addenbrookes. Again this year, we met some amazing Children and Young People, their families and the staff, and it is humbling to see how something that in so many ways is so simple, as just walking around, talking, signing autographs, has such a big impact in putting smiles on faces. Our thanks to the Children’s Play Team at the hospital for arranging the visit, and for Sainsburys for their donations into the goodie bags.”
